punched dimples on the back of receiver where the serial number is

making it to where some of the numbers cant be read

Some of this sort of thing was done during the war but the it was the name of the contractor being changed and not the serial number. Like if one of the contractors had extra receivers and another contractor bought them they would strike through the name on the receiver and engrave the finishing contractor's name. But I can't speak for the altered serial number.

.30 Carbine is not a good cartridge at all for hog hunting IMO, unless you shoot the piglets and adolescents and pass up the adults. You have the perfect hog hunting MO-SHEEN right there in that levergun.

As for the trade, yes, definitely, you're getting the better end there with the way prices on them have gone, if it's in any decent condition at all.

The Marlin 375 is something of a rarity as it is. There were around 16,000 of them built and that's it. It's something of a collectible with Marlin folks.

A lot more practical for most things than the .30 Carbine as well...if you can find ammo :P
