Yes, this is about the Martin/Zimmerman ordeal, but no - there doesn't need to be any commentary on the race or the case. Don't want this deleted for debating what's already been debated to death. Just an article showing how the media manipulates things, and makes the news, not reports it. It's sad that people still believe in and rely on the major news outlets.

NBC's "Today" show ran the edited audio of George Zimmerman's phone call to a police dispatcher in which Zimmerman says: "'This guy looks like he's up to no good … he looks black."

But the audio recording in its entirety reveals that Zimmerman did not volunteer the information that Martin was black. Instead, Zimmerman was answering a question from a police dispatcher about the race of the "suspicious person" whom Zimmerman was speaking about.

A transcript of the complete 911 call shows that Zimmerman said, "This guy looks like he's up to no good. Or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about."

The 911 officer responded saying, "OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?"

"He looks black," Zimmerman said.

The abridged conversation between Zimmerman and the dispatcher that NBC ran on March 27 has been blasted by media watchdog groups as misleading. Critics have said the edited version was made to suggest that Zimmerman targeted Martin because he was black -- an accusation by many that is still under investigation.

I completely disagree. Greed and the ratings necessary to feed that greed is the driving factor, not politics. The media knows exactly what the American hot buttons are and they press them as long, hard and often as possible. That feeds the frenzy, which feeds the ratings, which feeds the advertising revenues and so on.

Journalism is dead in the media. Long live sensationalism instead.

Lighten up folks. NBC was only trying to help. The folks there knew the Zimmerman was a racist and only resorted to altering the tapes when they became aware that not everyone was as smart as they were. That others needed help understanding the true racist tones hidden in the actual call.

I would like to say that I am just kidding but I cannot do so in good conscience. I honestly believe that what I wrote above is the way the media thinks.

When the internet was new I remember reading about how it was dangerous because it allowed ordinary citizens access to unfiltered news. Many claimed that they were referring to news that had not been properly vetted for accuracy. Some took it to mean that it was news that had not been slanted to favor a particular view yet.
