Met your SO through a chance encounter?

While at QuikTrip soda fountain, I spotted a woman walking through the store; she was very attractive in the way I like women (age-appropriate, very slender, angular facial features, etc.), and she carried herself in a confident manner. No wedding ring - I checked. When I walked past her on my way to the counter, I flashed my best smile and said "Hi!" She didn't even respond; I figured as attractive as she was, she probably encounters that sort of attention every day, and just brushes it off. Ah well, I paid for my drink and left.

It got me wondering though; did any of you folks meet your SO through a one-time chance encounter? I'm not talking about a class, the gym or a bar, or other location where you two were in the same location for a while or where you'd run into each other time and again. Just the one time, and you knew you'd probably never see that person again. If so, how did you approach the person other than spill your drink on her and offer to pay the dry cleaning bill?

......here I thought you were talking about an chance encounter with your local Sheriff's Officer.

But yes, I met my wife back in 1965 in a chance manner. A friend of mine and I were walking down the street of the small town where I grew up when a white Ford convertible came around the corner at the end of Main street. Come to find out, my friend knew the driver and we managed to get them stopped. We then rode around with them for the rest of the evening.

3 years later I had become related to three of the people within the car....the wife, her sister, and her brother, the driver.

Will be 44 years in late December.

I was working sickcall and working check in, when this hot navy chick stops by and says shes new to the base and needs directions to personnel.

I kinda abanded my post and escorted her to personnel. Turned out she was my new boss. That was about 27 yrs ago, this Dec. will be our 26th anniversary. Shes still my boss btw.

Can't say that I did. I was stationed with my wife at Tinker AFB. She is absolutely the best! Bout to hit 13 years....

Awwwww ... what sweet stories ... Who knew you guys were romantics at heart??

(And not us ... I'd run into GC a bazillon times before and never noticed him ... No, it's true. He and I went to the same damn church ... The same church my first husband and I got married in. But he was 17 at the time and I was 24 ... Then we found out that we had spent most of our adult lives within 5 miles of each other -- shopped at the same grocery store, both worked at the Capitol Complex, shoot -- we even lived within a couple of miles of each other ... "Friends" introduced us to each other ... And the rest, as they say ... is history. Been 11 years now ... sigh ... )

I meet my wife at a bar, but not in the traditional way.i went in to apprehend her brother for a bail bondsman he had skipped on.she tried to talk.me out of it and i wouldn't give in. She said i'll arm wrestle you for it, so i got ready and told her to say go and she said i really just wanted to hold your hand.

That was 16 years ago and we're still going.btw her brother spent that night in jail
