BX is, I believe, just a prefix denoting a rough date of manufacture. BX is probably late wartime. Is it a 1944 or 1945?

What happened to your post about the bolt? Did you get it fixed?

yep,its a 1944. got the bolt thing figured. had to press the side release button really hard to get the locking lug to clear. nothing a little cussin didn't fix.the bolt face had spun out a turn.

flatwins, that's a beutiful piece of wood on the Swede. Not really common on military rifles, at least not on mine.
HMFIC, I'm glad you like the Mas. I haven't had time to work on my Arisakas yet, been busy working on my son's truck. I'm about ready to give up on his motor and just drop in a new one.
