”…California lawmakers are pushing legislation that would impose a new tax on the state's wealthiest residents — even if they've already moved to another part of the country…”

“…The current version just introduced includes measures to allow California to impose wealth taxes on residents even years after they left the state and moved elsewhere…”

Its worth noting that in California, if you live there and move they WILL check your cell phone GPS data to see if you're still in the state. I forget when they passed this law, but they actively fine you and tax you if you're still in the area after you've reported moving to another state.

It looks to me like CA is contemplating taxing any assets of these wealthy individuals that are remaining in California (land, real estate, financial assets, etc.)
I have a buddy that took a consulting job in San Diego in 2020. Lived in his RV for 8 months and moved back to New Mexico when the job was over.
Every year since then he gets a tax form from commiefornika. He wads them up and puts them in the circular file at the end of his desk. They've been trying this for awhile now.

I'm pretty sure it can't be legal to tax someone that is no longer a resident of the state.
Ney York has done it for decades. That's what drove Rush Limbaugh to Florida. You should have heard his tax saga with NY. They were still taxing him while he was living in Florida.
