I did find the cats tracks but never saw the animal

Makes us a cast of the tracks, or at least take a picture of them and lay something like a dollar bill down for size reference. I'd like to see this for myself...

I didn't think of doing that at the time. it's an hour and a half drive down there so I won't be going back sorry to disappoint.
