Here is my letter to the Governor:

Dear Governor Henry,

I am writing to express my support of HB3354 which allows the open carry of firearms by citizens of this State in good standing with valid Concealed Carry Weapon Permits.

I personally received my permit earlier this year and am strongly in favor of allowing our citizens to exercise their Rights as they are guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

As you know, Oklahoma is one of very few states left in the U.S. which refuses to allow its citizens to exercise their right to bear arms openly under any circumstance. I believe this is a mistake and is a shameful indication of just how little our elected officials trust their constituency.

We as citizens have abdicated our right and responsibility to protect our freedoms for far too long. In this society where predators have little fear in preying upon the general public, I believe we need to send a strong message that We The People are tired of being trodden upon and that we are capable and willing to stand up for ourselves and those around us.

Help us to allow the People of Oklahoma to show criminals that we are not sheep, but sheepdogs... we feel a responsibility to each other and our society to take our country back from the criminal element which would destroy it.

Please sign HB3354 and help us move one step closer to the Freedoms envisioned and guaranteed by the Founding Fathers of this great nation.

Thank you for your service to the State of Oklahoma and I pray that you will show the citizens that you espouse and live by the values of the majority of the citizens in Oklahoma.

I checked the ORA website and the "OK Legislation" section hasn't been updated since 8/18/2009!

They came on here about a year ago claiming they would be more responsive and communicative. I was very circumspect about their claims. Seems I had reason to be.

I had joined ORA once many years ago. Sent in my dues and never heard from them again till it was time to renew. I didn't bother. It's a shame we don't have something like the Virginia Citizens Defense League here in OK.
