Kim Jong Mentally Ill is completely insane. The guy is seriously nuts...plus his country people are just as whack...they worship this guy like a god. They all have a picture of him in their hut that they pray to and praise every time they go by it. They are convinced he's invincible and a living god. So...the whole country is nuts and think they are predestined to rule the world. I think the head nutcase has realized his status as "glorious leader" has taken a hit due to his recent bought with sickness so he has to do something to show he's still the big cheese in his country. No doubt Russia is whispering in his ear that he's invincible with them and China standing with him. I believe China and Russia are using North Korea as their trigger. When they reach a point where they think they can win a world war they will convince North Korea to start it.

As for the Chinese and Russians wanting global war, I doubt that seriously. Global economics is so intertwined that it would take generations for any sort of recovery. It is vital that we watch The North Koreans, and shoot down anything they aim at us.
I think their threats are an attempt to achieve financial input from much of the rest of the world, including us.
I do, however believe there is a "clear and present danger" from the Iranians. Those idiots are likely to pull the nuclear trigger as soon as they have it. And as for missiles, forget the Iranians in terms of strikes on the US, but ground transported dirty bombs would be equally effective, and it would be harder to prove who did it.
I grew up thinking that any moment the Soviets would blow my butt off before I could lose my virginity. I am sorry my kids and grandkids are living under a similar threat. I'm not scared for myself--I've had a really good time (and plan to have more), but it would be nice if we could "all just get along."
