Well I plan on checking out pawn shops,gun shops and gun shows , what I meant by the $300 is that I want to spend roughly that amount , now adding to it is another story as every one knows , its like buying a motorcycle for 20k , once you've outfitted it with everything you want , you added another 10 grand!
I've got just what your looking for, it's a 1903 springfield action with a 1903A3 barrel and stock, the action has been drilled and tapped for a scope and has an old K4 Weaver mounted on it.

How about a Turkish 8mm Mauser
I've never seen any 8mm Mauser shoot worth a damn - please someone prove me otherwise.
I've never shot a Turkish Mauser, but I had a couple German K98k's, a 1938 and a 1940, that shot quite well with Greek 8mm surplus. Of course, that ammo is unobtainable these days.
10 round group at 100 yards - what would be "quite well"?
The one time I tried shooting from a bench rest, I got about a 1.5" grouping with five shots at 100 yards, but didn't go any further. If I could knock over a steel ram at 500 yards with one or two shots over iron sights, I was happy
