Is there a place that has all of the popular or available powders listed and tells whether they are a ball, stick or flake powder? I have looked in books and on line, and may have overlooked it, but can not find it.

One of the reasons I am asking is I am thinking about a Dillon 550B, and read that they do not work well with stick powders, like Varget.

Metallic Cartridge Reloading by M.L. McPherson DBI books Inc. 4092 Commercial Ave. Northbrook ILL 60062 , has measured powder density, composition and burn rate and alot of information covering case inspection and maintenance, smokeless powders, bullet types and performance, seating, internal and external ballistics and case capacity charts.

I also used to reload IMR and Hodgon 4895 in a RL550 with no problems. It sounds like what the concern you've read about is the few sticks that get cut on cycling the dump.
Went with a RCBS digital powder measure and Pact scales a few years ago and haven't looked back.

The only powders to give me problems on my 550 are the really long grain powders like IMR4350 or 3031,they hang up in the measure. The really fine powders like AA9 sometimes will leave a film that binds up the measure,I just clean it off every once in a while.

If I am not mistaken, you can get an upgraded powder measure to allow stick powder on a 550B. I'll have to check my "The Blue Press" book when I get home to get you the part number.

Thanks, I am picking this one up, can never have too many books!!

Thanks for the help so far, I just really don't understand why this info is not listed somewhere? Maybe it isn't as relevant to most, but I am pretty much a newbie to reloading, and was curious.
