I'll be splitting the **** out of at least two chords of wood using a 22 ton splitter tomorrow. It's money and much safer than that thing!
This is my rig now, I can pick up and split 4' thick green oak all by myself. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/dennishoddy1/media/Therig.jpg.html http://smg.photobucket.com/user/dennishoddy1/media/Logsplitter.jpg.html
That i am seeing split is possibly Fir or pine. Ever split any cottonwood> The grain is wavy and twisted...not fun. Here is a really nice splitter.. splits big big stumps multiple splits at 1 time... awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbYp0bVn4pI
In college, my buddies went to the gym. I cut firewood and split 99% of it with a 12-15# splitting maul. I usually did this 2 days a week, 8-10 hours a day. They couldn't believe I was in better shape then them and never went to the gym. The guy I cut wood on sold his place. I would rather "do work" like that than go to a gym to work out.
