I eat out in Midwest city EVERY day five days a week - there are some excellent places that don't serve you microwaved garbage ...
These are all VERY VERY reasonable - most have $6-7 lunch.

This dude knows what's up, though I don't necessarily agree with his menu choices (I recommend the Steak Bomb at Super Subs).

I, like a few here, also like Chequer's.

To add a couple more:

Taste of Thai at 1801 S Air Depot. I'm no Thai food expert, but my Asian friend is and says this place is legit, it gets good ratings, and the Spicy Basil is delicious.

Los Vaqueros at 1114 S Air Depot. It's standard Mexican fare, but towards the better-quality end of the scale.

Akropolis at 1809 S Air Depot. Can't go wrong with a gyro and fries.

Fat Daddy'z Crawfish in the shopping center along 29th across from Tinker. It's connected to Golden Phoenix, but is still its own entity.

All of these, besides Spencer's BBQ are within 2 miles of Tinker. Spencer's is a few miles ENE, but is a great place for above average (not fantastic) bbq.
