I'd suspect that stuff to be reloaded, and would avoid it in a M1 Garand. With no solid reputation, who knows how that ammo is loaded.

Stick with the CMP, or reload your own. Cheap(er) insurance

Yep! I bought it Knowing it was "loaded" supposed to be all New though, custom loaded to Garand Specs, and I think You're right!

My Google Fu took me to a site where a guy blew up an XD using reloads from Ammo Kan. Supposedly, they just distribute the ammo rather than manufacture it so who knows where it comes from.

This really bites. Good that you did some research before firing this stuff. If you know a highly experienced reloader you might pull a statistically valid sample at random from the lot and see if the powder is identifiable. If it is, weigh the powder charges from the sample, weigh the bullets, and look at published loads to see if they fall into the pressure range appropriate to the Garand.

I still remember how surprised I was at the Garand's requirements. Would have assumed that it would eat everything, but not so.

Problem is, if you only have 100 rounds and want to be 95% confident of your sample, plus or minus 5, you have to sample 80 of the 100 rounds. For 1000 at the same level of confidence and the same confidence interval, the number is 278.

I strongly recommend you sell it to some brave bolt gun guy, but I bought some Silver Bear stuff several years ago in 30-06 that was so high pressure it jammed a Ruger 77-Mark II so badly it took a rubber hammer to open the bolt. Primer flowed, and printing on the case head was almost squeezed out of existence. Gunsmith checked it and declared it okay, but I never used any more Silver Bear.

You could pull the bullets, dump the powder and start over. All you would be out is the powder and a little time.

Why not shoot a round or two through a chronometer and see if the FPS is where it needs to be?

If it's loaded at the top of modern 30-06 standards, even one round would possibly break the Garand. If you are suggesting do it from someone's bolt gun, that's possible, but given the internet reputation of the company, one still doesn't know if the entire batch is loaded to a consistent standard. Also, velocity is not always a reliable indicator of chamber pressure.

The first warning sign here is that the manufacturer didn't put their name on the box. If they won't stand behind their product, I damn sure ain't!
