I get nothing from them, and am a member. I called customer services, and opted out of all phone/mail services. You can also sign up as an "associate member" and not get the mailings, or the magazine.
You would have dammed fewer of your gun rights now if they didn't exist. Every gun grabbing politition has complained about the NRA lobby being so powerful, and trying to find ways to negate their influence.
Yes, they have done some things I don't like, but overall they done well.

I'm a member because they really do carry a lot of influence in our government and that's needed to help level the playing field, however, I despise their constant bashing of the democratic and independent parties. Guess what NRA, there's a LOT of non Republicans who support 2A and vote accordingly, instead of bashing them every chance you get you should be reaching out to them. There is no better ally in the fight for 2A than Democratic and Independent voters who also support the same thing. I hate the constant political commentary that is "American Rifleman" and "American Hunter". It's 5 pages of propaganda for every one page of gun or hunting content. Plus it took me forever to opt out of all of those Email "offers" and they even sent me a notice that it was time to renew my membership before I even got my first member card.

Still...I support them and probably will continue to do so unless it gets worse.

with all their influence, what have they really done for us? working against Constitutional carry, sneaking gun control measures into state laws, contributing to anti-gun politicians, agreeing to "compromises"...

Was a member. Tired of the send money or you could lose your gun rights tomorrow crap. I know the NRA may do some good but getting your money IS their main focus from what I see.
All the emails trying to get you to panic about things that will never pass is pure BS.
