You can always use a soil sterilant, then you wont have to worry about growth period. Really, what else other than weeds can grow where bermuda does?

Secret bunker in an undisclosed location.
You can lay black plastic on it now and weight it dopwn and keep it there all winter. Come spring then it will be time for the herbicide.
Roundup is a brand name but the generic Glyphosate works just as good and is considerably cheaper.
You can get a 2.5 gallon jug of 41% concentrate for under $40. Mix it 2-3 oz of concentrate to a gallon of water and it will kill your burmuda just fine. It might take a couple of repeated sprayings to get it all, burmuda can be pretty tough stuff, but it will kill it.

I had a decent 60x24 garden coming up last go'round, and then the bermuda choked it out (except for the garlic... that's a tough plant!).

Have you considered bringing it to my place? I'd love to have something to choke out the weeks.

Sadly, it won't grow where I want it to go. I have a spot that is full sun, tested great, and the bermuda won't grow there at all. It seems to know exactly what you want, and then does the opposite.

I've considered going the sod cutter route, but I know that won't go deep enough for these roots.
