Google what the Brady campaign rates Obama. Lol don't always fall for the nra and what people like that are trying to sell you.

Those people started the gun panic just to make money.

Let us reason together here.
The Brady Campaign, a group dedicated to the elimination of private gun ownership (I know that now after many stinging defeats they say they have changed tactics and don't seek bans but even they admit that is just a concession to an "inability" not a lack of desire to create a ban), doesn't feel Pres Obama has done very much to support their cause. They are largely correct because a) Republican House stopped any new legislation, b) Senate resistance made fights even in that Democrat dominated body difficult, c) The President didn't want to rock the boat before the last Presidential election cycle (outside of any tragic, but convenient crisis).
Now he has publicly (to anti-gun groups) declared his intention to do as much as possible to stem gun ownership with "commonsense measures" that he can enact by Presidential authority and he appears to have started doing just that. But because the Brady Campaign isn't satisfied we should ignore the President's stated intention and what appears to be executive actions designed to have the exact impact that he has already stated he'd like to take?

Is that really your thinking Morpheus? Your conclusion is that its all NRA propaganda?

I feel mostly the NRA has became use less to me. To me they started the panic just to drive memberships and start a huge gun panic. Just watch any democratic person they see they threaten and call libral. They used to do more than just bash democtates. I was a card carring member for over a decade. All the mail/propaganda they have sent/emailed me has had nothing in it but bashing oboma/democtates. So I'm don't with them.

So now I support the second ammendment foundation. Last time I talked to them they presented cases they were working on and actually helping with. Not Just bashing democtates. Not all of us democtates are antigun.

I'm very glad there are a lot of 2nd amendment groups one can join and support our beliefs. And I really glad that today there are forums and the Internet so we can all get together and do what we are doing.

Now hang on a minute. Have I got this right? Somebody posts a GOA article about the administration's "Chicago tactics" and you start bashing the NRA?

Is that appropriate?

Last time I checked, the NRA has been rather busy with encouraging Congress NOT to pass the anti-gun legislation the Obama administration is pushing, and THAT's why the administration is left to resort to "a pen and a phone" to coerce what they cannot legislate.

morpheus, if you think that the high ranking dems, whether elected or appointed, don't want to eliminate or at least severely restrict private gun ownership, then you are fooling yourself. the only reason they don't talk about it openly is because they are at least smart enough to know that it costs them votes when they do.

Wasn't it Alan Gottleib of the SAF (the organization that you support) who favored the Mancin-Toomey bill? The one that would have outlawed many if not most private transactions? You might want to be careful of whom you support. Unless you favor the Mancin-Toomey bill.

If anyone wants to know what the .gov can do if it so chooses, just start digging on the hoops that the oil & gas industry has to jump through. It's been going on for years but Obama has put the practice of generating hoops for them on steroids. But you don't hear that talked about in public, you just have to dig it up yourself. Look for Oil Release and Contingency Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, etc. Read the agreements and look at all the strings they put in there. These sort of things even have to be done prior to the transfer of existing assets to a company that wants to buy them from a current operator. Not just on new exploration like everyone thinks. It's utterly astounding that the oil companies even bother with the mountains of bull$hit that they have to deal with, and if it wasn't in their way we would likely never have to import a drop of anything. Just export to our allies. And this only accounts for MMS and BLM. Throw in the SEC, IRS, OSHA and EPA. If you are inclined to believe Obama when he says we've drilled more than ever before, don't! Because it's a bald face lie.

I support background checks on all firearms transactions. Even all private sellers. It may be a pain but it's an easy loophole for people to use that shouldn't have a gun.

Yes millions of democrats are pro gun. I'm one of many and many of us would have not voted or encouraged most anti gun leglatation.

Yup i do bash the nra. Wrong subject for that I didn't mean to derail this post. I do apaligize to the poster who started this thread.

I think I addressed most things if I forgot something let me know. Been a little busy today.

What entity that is fully independent of the federal government and not beholden to any federal bureaucrat, would you suggest be in charge of 100% background checks? Because therein lies the rub. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with our desire to allow criminals and the mentally ill to have guns. We will never accept the federal government being allowed to bless or reject the private sale of our private property. :(
