I asked a guy one day if he was going out to ring in the new year. He said, "hell no man. I'm a professional drinker. Tonight is when all the amateur drinkers go out."
I was that way in my stupid youth, booze was safe, but water? Never touched the stuff, my motto was anything that rots wood and rusts iron can NOT be good for you, it's not called the universal solvent for nuthin'.

I also have that same Randall but with a cocobolo handle.
This one is a Model 7-4 1/2 from the earliest 60s, carried by a legendary Korean war Army hero and later CIA operative who worked in Tibet, Vietnam, Africa, and Central and South America, he carried it until he hooked up with Bob Loveless in the very late 60s. Only a small portion of them show in the photo, but the front left side of blade near tip has about 18 gazzillion very light scratches from magnesium fire starter use, the agent specialized in training locals in counter-insurgency operations, air dropped in enemy territory (known to return knives for repair after leaving tip stuck in somebody), and also taught other operatives field survival skills, his tools of the trade often anything but military issue while crossing borders and posing as a wealthy German hunter or whatever, his handgun often a Colt 1903 with special hot SWC loads. The knife is a cherished possession of mine as I greatly admired the man, and both how and why I ended up with it.

That's close enough to a Threepersons holster that you get an A from me....not an A+, but a solid A.

Thanks ! 2025 is the year that i propose to invest in more gear to enjoy the firearms i already have , like holsters for field guns, optics where needed , already working on paperwork through Silencer Central , etc. and enrolled in a "Stop the bleed" class at one of the 5.11 stores later this month as a well stocked IFAK and a first aid kit in the truck is merely an ornament if i only know how to use half the stuff in it

Dont know where that stands for watches -- perhaps offload a couple of unnecessary items from one of my other dozen hobbies and find a Tudor Ranger or a black faced Doxa , who knows

GED - you might have too much on your plate, but it occurred to me that yourself and any number of LEO's on this site have more than enough knowledge to put on some "stop the bleed" type classes and things like that -- keep it informal for OSA'ers or something - - shoot , we may have some combat medics on here even

just tell everyone you need 10 or 15$ a head for the GED Buffalo Trace fund

Boy, thats the truth

true story - in May of '23 i was the closest to being involved in a gunfight that ive ever been since i left the Army -- sitting in my parking spot in Norman at my office finishing up listening to a podcast when shots rang out across the parking lot --- for the sake of brevity - i'll fast forward to the point where i was holding a motorcycle tie down strap around a victim's leg as high up and into his crotch area as i could get it because thats the only thing i had

Guy dove for cover behind a car which saved his life but he had what i thought were 3 new ventilation holes in his leg -- took LE 7 minutes to get there at which time they cut his pants off and relieved me with a real tourniquet -- i slowed down the bleeding from the leg but he had a 4th hole - exit wound in his ass too that i completely missed

Turned out to be domestic "baby momma dispute" problems ---

a couple months ago was able to dispense band aids and neosporin to a bunch of cyclists who hooked handlebars and went down in a sea of spandex

You never know whats gonna come your way
