I don't always agree with you but this is the truest statement I've read on the matter. It applies to all involved and even a good number of those commenting about it.

I'd like to see the how long the trooper agitated the situation. I hold the preacher responsible for his actions, now I would like to see what was said prior to the preacher attacking. Does the trooper really think that he can speak to people that way and not end up in a physical altercation?

And yet, there's a sizable contingent of members here that think a physical altercation is an entirely appropriate response to somebody being disrespectful toward the flag.

It's the same "you said something I didn't like" or "you didn't kowtow to authority, so I'm'a whup yer ass" theory at work; the details are just that.
