Expect people to randomly wave at you while you drive down the road.
That wave will be with one finger (index).
Expect people to randomly wave at you while you drive down the road.
Now in all seriousness if you get stopped by any law enforcement officer while carrying concealed you must FIRST notify them that you have a permit and are carrying.
Welcome to Oklahoma be safe.
Unlike most other states, it is illegal to have a loaded gun in your car in OK without a permit. But if you do have a permit from Ohio or anywhere else, Oklahoma honors it, as others have said.
Is it only valid if you reside in the state from which the permit is issued?
The state does not make a distinction. The law just says if you have a permit from another state, OK will recognize that permit.
I'd avoid Tulsa county if possible. Sheriff and DA are not too gun friendly.
Much of the unfriendliness is towards those who wish to own Class III shootin' toys. Tulsa County is okay. Sheriff is pretty good at doing his job in a friendly way. A couple of my kids work for him. He is a stickler for treating citizens with respect. Those who apply for a SDA out of Tulsa Co. are well treated.
Some do not like the DA; some do. They have lots to prosecute in Tulsa Co. and limited funds to accomplish that.
If you have a carry permit from another state AND you become an OK resident your permit MAY no longer be valid. It depends upon the regulations/statutes of the state issuing the permit. Some foreign state permits are good, resident of that state or not. Some foreign state permits can be converted from resident to non-resident status. Either of these two preceding cases will likely require that you update your address information with them. Other permits become invalid when you are no longer a resident of that foreign state.
So if the issuing state requires you to be a resident for the permit to be valid and you have moved out of that state, Oklahoma still recognizes it?
