I'm kinda kickin' around the idea of getting an OK real estate license. My first thought is, even after the provisional licensing, is there a broker willing to hire a 63 year old rookie.

I've thought about it on and off over the years but just never got around to doing it. I have lots of free time right now and I still need to make that first million!

Any thoughts from those of you who do this, or have done this, for a living?

As long as you communicate well and stay on top of things I'm sure you'll be hired. I have a friend that's a realtor and I can ask him any specific questions.

My wife switched from nursing to real estate at 54, she loves it. Yes they will hire you. McGraw realtors has a real estate school and will refund some or all your educational costs after your first transaction

I'll take a look at what McGraw offers. I'm also looking at a few other places geared towards vets changing careers. It's already looking like there's more information and choices than someone could ever want.

I'd go ahead with your dream, if you don't, you'll always wonder what if? There is a lot of money to be made as a realtor.
Aside from that and on an interesting note, the wife and I were looking at a home without a realtor and this fruitcake woman comes out of the house next door and tells us all about the home. How the man lost his wife, was a lawyer and died in the garage and how other people didn't sound interested int he home-blah, blah, blah. Of course, that turned us off along with all the guy's personal possessions within the home-furniture, canned goods, utensils, pots and pans, personal achievements in picture frames all of which we looked at with a realtor later.
I thought of letting the realtor know that this woman is stifling sales by her loose mouth but don't know how the realtor could stop her from telling tales.

I don't know about the Broker thing, either. I think it's just continuing education and further licensing, for the most part. I don't even know, exactly, what a broker is.

I'm not looking to make a lot of money...though that's certainly an incentive. As a matter of fact, I'm limited right now how much I can make because I started soc sec at 62. But I could still make enough to support my gun habit.
