PONCA CITY, Oklahoma -

A World War II veteran who led a group of men on a mission that inspired his fellow soldiers, as well as Hollywood, has died.

The family of James "Jake" McNiece confirmed his death Monday. He was 93.

I had the honor of meeting and talking with jake numerous times. He helped me with one of my papers in college. Great man and a great American. Looks like I will be going to a funeral.
