Old Cemetery?

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. These gates and fencing are at the northeast corner of my house place and border the county road, and I had never taken time to wander around in there until a couple weeks ago. There doesn’t appear to be anything there, but to me, it looks like a fenced off area for an old graveyard.
I’m hesitant to contact anyone with the county and really don’t know who would know anything anyway.
This gate faces the county road, and the other faces north into the neighbor‘s pasture.

You’ve walked all around in there to investigate I’m assuming?

Burn it off and see if there is anything at ground level. Keep in mind what may appear to just be a rock may be a grave marker. I know of a few old graveyards that are in very remote locations like that.

I would check the county or online somewhere just to see who owns the land. That may lead you to some information.

Lots of genealogy communities online too and they track and follow obscure gravesites too. You might be able to dig some stuff up online if you search carefully

Be sure to bring your EMF meter and proton pack, don't know what dimension you may open up exploring that area...

I found one like that at Lake Texoma. It was on Corp land and overgrown. One of the markers was a bit large and exposed and the others were brick size.

It could very well be an old private family cemetery. I know of a few around here, but I don't know of anywhere they are tracked in any way.

Family cemeteries were common back before statehood. And In Oklahoma it's still legal to have a family cemetery. As said, most old cemeteries don't have actual headstones, only "markers" that may not have any writing on them. Many of these places have never been recorded by the counties so there will be no information about them. Old land deed records may be your only clue.
