Glad to see the rain. In addition to helping the grass and crops, it cuts down on the chances of wildfires.

However, we did get some bad news today. Apparently our company didn't win the contract to survey the roads in Wyoming. We sure were hoping for that.

Oh, well. We'll just get healthy again and see what else may come about.

We got home Sunday afternoon from a few days in New Orleans. Great trip, but man were we beat. Had to get up at 3A.M. Sunday to make a 6:15 flight. Got home around 12:20, finally got something to eat around 12:45. Had a nap Sunday afternoon, and was in bed by 10. Slept like a log, didn't get up until almost 8, and I'm still tired! Anyway, among the things we did was an airboat swamp tour outside Henderson, LA. Airboat will seat up to seventeen passengers, and it's powered by a 650HP Cummins Turbo Diesel!

Meet Suzette. She's about a 7-foot, 25 to 30-year-old.

We also got into the middle of some of the St. Joseph Day 'parades.' I'll post some pics from those in a minute. And, went to Preservation Hall. Those were the main reasons for the trip ... swamp tour, Indian parades, and Preservation Hall.

If you're not familiar with the Indian tribes of New Orleans, I encourage to do a little 'readin' up' on them. Very interesting. Saturday was St. Joseph Day, the big day for their commemorative parades. We stayed at a B&B near one corner of Treme LaFitte, and some of these dancers came right past our abode. We also chased/followed some of the others in the neighborhood. The various tribes "confront" one another in the streets. Back in the day, these confrontations sometimes became very violent. Nowadays, they confront one another, have a stand-off, do some 'chest thumping,' then part company. It's primarily a contest for the "prettiest" costumes.

Every now and then, I like to expose myself as something of a fraud....

....for instance, I've long stated that "serious, amateur photographers" have a tendency to be very observant so as to NOT miss seeing an important and interesting subject. It's kind of like being in a desert area and finally finding a cactus bloom that really gives one a vision of beauty.

However, to expose the fraud here, I REALLY missed being observant on this occasion. We were living and working in Utah and had taken a drive from Kanab, Utah to Page, Arizona in a loop involving highways 89 and 89A. 89A takes one across the Navajo Bridges, of which one is a traffic bridge and the older one is strictly a pedestrian bridge. Taking a picture of Marble Canyon with one of the bridges in the picture, I missed a great opportunity at wildlife.

One might have to click on the image to go to my Smugmug site to "really" see it, but there is a California Condor resting on a ledge below the beams of the bridge. He is over at the lower left side of the picture above.

Had I noticed him at the time, I had the lenses needed to get some closer pictures of him (or her.) Sadly, I blew it!!!!

It's easily seen by zooming/magnifying the posted pic.

You capture a lot of nice photos, Terry. Ya just can't win 'em all... ;)
