Put a 20lb turkey into a brine about 2pm today. Supposed to be one hour in the brine per pound of bird.
I'll be putting it into the pellet grill tomorrow morning for a low and slow cook.
This bird will be sliced up and vacuum sealed in portions for sandwiches, with the carcass put into a stock pot to be boiled with the broth frozen for later use vs buying store bought broth.

My youngest planted a garden this year, done all the work himself (age 15, now 16). The weather has played "hail" on it a time or two so far, but gathered these out yesterday. Hoping the corn and peppers produce as well as the squash and zucchini are!

Congrats to your son! Gardening is a skill/passion he can enjoy his whole life. :thumb:

I’ve planted crooked neck yellow squash in an old metal water trough for a couple or three years, and they’ve produced really well. However, by this time of the year, they start to burn up, and I assume it’s from the heat coming off the metal. I’m going to plant them in my wooden raised beds next year to see if it makes a difference.:anyone:
