It ain't quite dark yet.Evening fellas ... Where did the day go??
Oh well ... It's dark now. And ... The fireworks have started. And I have a very medicated, very scared 70 pound dog plowed up in the middle of me shaking like a chicken leg in grandma's paper bag.
God bless him I KNOW he is scared -- but he is driving me CRAZY with this **** ...
I wish ... NOTHING has worked for this guy. Well, except standing on my chest and panting heavily while also shaking like a leaf in a windstorm.
I know he's not behaving this way on purpose but DAMN ... I've tried EVERYTHING and nothing has worked. It's exhausting ...
Fired up the smoker earlier, did one of my son's whole chickens, spatchcock style, that we butchered a few months ago plus some deer link sausage from my buddy in Louisiana. Also some cheesy potatoes, green beans, and apple dump cake/cobbler w/ice cream. I think the only thing worse than a late supper is when I also eat too much of it...might just sleep good tonight 
Well we have started Round No. 2 with the dog tonight. Bless his danged heart. I wish I could figure out something that would work for him.
A small dose of Benadryl might ease him or even let him get some sleep....

I remember in 1987 when I moved to Tulsa we went to a Drillers game and it was bring your dog night. The brilliant team marketers thought it good to have fireworks too. Pure pandemonium and terror ensued.
Oh yeah ... He gets Benedryl and roast beef ... Or chicken.
And the weird thing that helps a little -- I put his collar and leash on him. And just his collar will not do. He has to have his leash on. AND ...
His fuzzy bed has to be between the ottoman and the sofa, with my feet on the ottoman so he can hide under my legs. I tried covering that space with a blanket and making him a cave.
Nope. Nothing doing ... Has to be MY legs. No one else's legs will do.
And then if there is a particularly loud noise he will have to be on my lap, in my face, anyway.Similar threads
