I have had people insinuate that I was racist because I do not support legalizing drugs, and another that I was immoral, all in this thread.

Rick, honestly now, what do you think of Glocks? You know what you will be called if you say you don't like them...

Yes to all of the above, then I outgrew the need.

So you had a "need" that you "outgrew"? and now you are the moral police for everybody else? You allotted time for yourself to partake? And now someone who developes a "need" because they are suffering from neurological damage from a 20 year infection from undiagnosed Lyme disease along with Bartonella and Babesia, never drank or smoked anything, would like to partake in their allotted time, for possible relief from symptoms, it's wrong?

Get him with the right group of people and he'd do it. Just like he used to...

"Outgrew the need"

I love this passive aggressive stance insinuating that smoking marijuana is an immature act for kids. Rick obviously has some severe personal ill will towards marijuana, using it as a scapegoat for the negative decisions and results of family members, which is sincerely unfortunate, but it's a misplaced blame. Rick, I honestly am sorry to hear about the family member issues you've shared in these threads. You're a good guy, I like you, but when it comes to this subject, you and I will never see eye to eye. Statistics simply do not support your claims that marijuana is a self-destructive crutch helping people spiral towards a social and emotional black hole.

True, and the morals comment was aimed at someone who likes to say that disagreeing with legalizing drugs is somehow immoral. To me that ranks right up there with saying it is racist, just another load of BS.

"Load of BS" -- who can refute that argument?

I can't help you on the racism allegation, since I didn't make it, but I can explain exactly how prohibition is immoral. It falls under the more general idea that it is immoral for a person to initiate violence, or the threat thereof, against another person. I think most people already understand why this is wrong, but if your moral sensibilities don't include that concept, just let me know and I can break it down for you.

Well, Hensch, you obviously don't understand. When CO legalized pot sales, I had an almost uncontrollable urge to drive up there and smoke a bowl. In spite of the fact that I don't smoke, do drugs, or drink - the fact that I could NOW LEGALLY obtain and consume pot overwhelmed me. I NEED the government to keep me from ingesting harmful substances.
As you know, I have a son that's on the verge of ruining his life with drug abuse. Government-sanctioned and regulated drugs, mostly. IF ONLY it was ILLEGAL for him to have obtained those drugs, perhaps I wouldn't be dealing with this tragedy now.
Oh, it IS? Nevermind.

Assuming your $350/oz number is accurate (it's likely not)...

Most pot smokers smoke only 1-2 joints/week. An ounce will yield ~40-50 joints for most smokers (provided it's not ditch weed)... so $7-$10/joint. That basically a fast food meal or two each (well, three if you count the munchies).

Even assuming it only lasts some smokers a month, I know *many* people who spend more than $350/month on cigars or Scotch. Some of them would consider marijuana an even cheaper therapy session than a 2 hour cigar.

Actually $350 is about spot on anywhere from 80 to 120 a quarter ounce for killer chronic, but unlike the crappy mexican red hair ditch weed of years gone by when I was just a young punk the stuff coming out of dispensaries will rock your world. I have friends that smoke. . . at least that's what they tell me.

Expensive Hi-Points.

No I would not and guys, I have not even shared half the things I have seen related to drug use. You can scream and whine all you want, you are not changing my mind, getting me to support it, or to stop speaking my mind.
