Call the local PD and have them wait outside for him to show up for work and have him arrested for DUI. Even if he has a med MJ card, he can't operate a motor vehicle under the influence of pot. This may just be a temporary fix, but if it becomes a habit, maybe your boss will take notice as well as action.

On the flip side...he is a warm body, showing up for work every day. That's quite an accomplishment considering today's generation.
Is there a test for THC that LEO can use like a breath analyzer for alcohol at the stop?

Another option: "I hear they're requiring pee tests starting in January. I can't believe they're doing this to us!" Get him riled up over it and maybe he'll just quit.
Pee tests are a maybe. Most druggies know how to get around them.
Hair follicle tests are a different story, so go with that one.

I thought we were pro individual freedoms…..
I'm 100% individual freedoms until it interferes with my freedoms. A safe workplace is one of them. If one's addictions get in the way of my safety to go home at night, we have an issue.
Graduated in 69 during the peak of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
To this day have never taken any drug nor prescription medicine not in my name, but have passed more joints than I can count down the row in concerts and don't give a crap on how one wants to live their life as long as it doesn't interfere with mine or my family's life.
That is my definition of individual freedom.
I was a huge participant in the sex and rock and roll scene though. :hey3:

So, I have to work with this stoner piece of crap. He vapes thc all day long. He's caused me to get injured, he's injured himself, and he damages product frequently. He's also rude to customers. And his most common retort to anything is...I don't gaf. I've complained for 4 years now, and the company won't do anything about it. He lives right around the block, and shows up for work every day. I guess that's all they care about.

So... I'm fed up. Aside from catching him after work and putting him in the hospital, and myself in jail, what recourse do I have? Aren't I supposed to have some legal protections against being forced to work with someone who's always intoxicated?
I like to skip the entire chain of command and go to the very top. If in doubt, what about a report to OSHA?

They are all stoner liberals, so it would fall on deaf ears.

Seriously, the company I worked for applied for a Star or something level with OSHA.
If you passed the inspection, there was a guarantee that you would not get another inspection for 10 years or something.
A graduate engineering student from OSU conducted the inspection.
What a joke, he knew nothing. Got a couple minor gigs for grinder platform distances and some tool room tools without guards.
Follow up inspection got the reward.
I was hoping they would ask to interview me. The electrical issues would have had major repercussions and really needed addressed for safety.
Can't tell you how many times I had to work 480 volts with live circuits on a wooden ladder with steel tools to tie in new equipment.
It was insane with the supervisor telling me to do it or GTF out the door as there were a hundred people waiting at the door for my job.
That's the way it used to be in manufacturing.
