The 650 is pretty well out of my price range. Dont plan on ever using a casefeeder, I've been on a single stage for the last 3 years so anything would would be like I'm on Hyperspeed. Another thing I was wondering about is everyone knows about Dillion's customer service, but I havn't really heard much about Hornadys, anyone?

I have heard that Hornady has good service, but I don't think it is up to par with Dillon. Those Dillon guys redefine service.

I have the Dillon 650 and Sq Deal B. If you think the 550 is what you want then believe me a little more money for the 650 is worth it. The automatic indexing is well worth it for safety alone.

Dillon's service is outstanding. I have no experience with Hornady's, so I can't compare them.

Hornady will send out replacements for broken parts for free just like Dillon will. I have never called them and hung up the phone thinking the customer service was lacking. I bought my first LNL about 2.5 years ago and just had one of the primer slides break. They shipped me a new one out that morning (Wednesday) and I had it Friday afternoon. My gripe with the LNL is the EZject nub on the subplate. After 40,000 rounds loaded, mine wore to the point it would stick cases instead of ejecting them. I replaced the nub with a piece of hardened steel and it's great. Hornady did send me a new subplate, it's still in the box though.

If you really never plan to use a casefeeder stay away from the 650, it's really meant to be used with one.

I've had the Hornady LNL and I now have a Dillon 650. I can tell you that the instructions for the Dillon are several orders of magnitude better than those that came with my Hornady. I went for "value" and ended up spending more than had I just went "Blue" the first go-round. But I got the press I want now. If you shoot mass quantities of one specific round, do what Technetium said. Get a 1050. If you change calibers a lot go for a 650. Even with the case feeder swap overs are cake.

I have the predecessor to the LNL, the Projector. I bought it in 1990. As soon as I wear it out I will buy a LNL. I have called Hornady several times to replace worn springs. They have always sent me what I needed. I called them a few months ago and they told me that my press was obsolete, but they sent me the part I needed anyway. I consider that very good service.

The dillon 550 is the only progressive I have owned and I have to say it has served me well. Just make sure and read the instructions on assembly and operation. I ordered the dvd and it helped a bunch.

Dillion all the way. I had a Square Deal. It worked flawlessly, I even lost parts for it (my own fault, of course) and Dillion sent them to me at no cost to me. Not even shipping. I have never had a problemw with them. If I get back into reloading sometime, I will go Dillion. Not saying anything bad about Hornady, but Dillion has my business.

I just got a 650 without a casefeeder (for now ) the weekend with it I did 1000 40 sw ,stoping every 15 cases to reload the casefeed tube ,it a grest systm as is .
