To revert back to the original post, I would have to say that it would depend on what your needs are.
If you're looking for quantity, then obtain the progressive, if you want precision then to stick with the single stage.
I've owned both and still use the single stage predominately, for both the metallic and shotshell ammo.
As per cost it was told to me back when the Chinese started making gun powder that you really don't save money you just shoot more for the same amount spent, although budget dictates as usual.
