If "concern" is the reason for checking in turkeys than why have we been doing deer all these years? I am not that concerned about numbers of turkeys in my area at all (increasing rather than decreasing in my un educated opinion) but regardless, I would be even less concerned about our deer herd.....

You have to buy a bear tag before the season starts on October 1, none will be sold after that. I wonder if the same will be done with elk, to prevent non LHL persons from shooting one, then going and buying the $51 tag.
