One of my best friends growing up is in the 2nd Recon Battalion of the USMC. He is also a police officer and he ended up giving me some stuff before his last deployment. One of them was a unit tshirt of the 2nd Recon Battalion and another was a polo from his department that he got for me and had my name embroidered on it and all the patchwork done as well. Both of these items I have a hard time wearing because I see all the berating on here and a lot of other places about people wearing military shirts when they didnt serve and duty shirts when they don't belong to that department. My question is if there is a problem with me wearing these items when they were a gift from a dear friend. I didnt seek them out at a store or have them made to act like a mall ninja and impersonate people like a bunch of these creepers do. I just want to honor him and the gifts he gave me.

Meh - they're t-shirts, basically. Given to you by a friend. It's not like you're all tacticool about it, or trying to make people think something else of you.

As long as people who wear stuff they got from friends are honest about where they got it, who cares?

This one needs to just be kept at home and treasured.
