As a Marine, I say wear it. So long as you inform people who ask that it was a gift from a friend, you're doing nothing wrong or embarrassing. Your friend thought enough of you to give it, so honor him by wearing it.

I'm not sure about the "department" shirt. Is it a LEO uniform shirt? If so, keep it as a souvenir, but don't wear it in public.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with wearing something you did not earn the right to wear. 99% of the people who see you wearing it will think you are a recon Marine or police officer. What next, wearing a Medal of Honor because I want to honor the guy who got one? A Vietnam Vet friend of mine has a son who is an Army Ranger and he is always wearing his son's ranger T-shirts along with his Vietnam Vet hat. Every person he talks to thinks he was a ranger in Vietnam (he wasn't) until he corrects them and then he gets embarrassed about it. Why not wear a "my son is a Ranger" T-shirt? And what about the ones who see it that he doesn't talk to? I honestly think individuals who do this want people to think they are something they aren't.

I say wear that Ish with pride in honor of your friend who gave them to you!!

No as said before, if the dept. shirt has something along the lines of "police" on it dont wear in public as it could be construde as you impersonating an officer.

I think its awesome youve got a friend that cares enough to give you things like that and even had them personalized for ya

I say wear them if you like them.

I see this over on the bike forums too - grown men being way too concerned over what another man may choose to wear.

Personally, I dont like wearing clothes with logos unless its for my own company, or if you want to pay me to advertise for yours.

He isn't wearing a USMC uniform. If he was wearing that, every Marine on here would probably throat punch him. Its just a T-Shirt though. I say Rock it bro. My brother wore USMC shirts all the time when I was still in. I wear them all the time now and I rarely have anyone ask me about it. Maybe an occasional "thanks for your service" but thats its.

Who said he was wearing a uniform. He is wearing something that makes it appear that he is a recon Marine or a police officer. I guess I'm against it because of all the assholes who wear military T-shirts trying to pass themselves off as having served. I also don't see how it "honors" the guy who gave it to him unless he has that stated on the shirt too because the majority who see it don't know that. The truth is the majority who do that really want others to think they are a badass. It's a free country and he can wear it if he wants to but I also have the right to not like it. To me those who wear them are posers.
