I built an overhead feed bin for the ranch last summer. I did it mainly to prove I could but also to save the ranch a bunch of money. I had a picture in my head and new roughly how big to build it. I also used my experience from dealing with bins in the past. I knew I wanted a very steep angle on the bottom cone to be sure all the feed slides and nothing hangs to go stale and stick. I also knew I wanted the ladder to kick out at the bottom to help with climbing. The center box of the bin is 10’x10’ wide by 4’ tall and if memory serves, the lid is 21’ from the ground. The I-beam legs were material we had laying around. There’s a ton of pics but it takes several to tell the story. I saved my employer about $10k buy building this instead of them buying one.

Built some goat hay feeders and portable panels for my sister in law. She sent me a picture and I said yes. Lol. Actually my nephew (her son) was here for the summer and we tackled the job together. He’s the only reason they got painted. I DONT DO PAINT! He learned about mig welding. He actually went home and bought his own mig. You talk about a proud uncle moment! That boy reminds me so much of my brother and I. Anyhow that’s enough of the sweet talk.
