Tipping my hat to every one of you guys!!!

Spent nearly 20 years in the trades (carpentry & welding) and used to do some work that would make me fit in here but I stress the “used to”. Left most my tools in far North Idaho when I cleared out two years ago. Eyes and back are near gone but still dream. Last big project I did was this piece of heaven. Took me seven years. Couldn’t do it again.

In fact I’ve got some gun cabinets to commission right now. And had just logged on to post a gun cart “For sale or Trade”, hoping to trade someone for building a backyard pellet trap so I could work with the grandson shooting silhouette figures (chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams) off a rail in the backyard. You guys sidetracked me😉

That’s absolutely beautiful! I live east of Tulsa but if you don’t find someone local I might be able to build your pellet trap.

Yep you reminded me!
@Snattlerake my tig came from Primeweld and I can also vouch for their 50 plasma cutter. My neighbor got one of them and a mig for his boy to do projects with. They’ve been happy!
I bought this one. The ground is a little short for my tastes, but that's easily fixable. For the money, it's been a work horse.

As we get older, our minds and spirit say we still can, but our bodies say not so much anymore.

That’s a very kind offer Cowcatcher!! From work posted here I’d be getting quality work!

Design idea is something I should work on. Your post made me at least stretch some silhouette animals out on the bench and look for the back of an envelope. Not impressice I know, even for the back of an envelope! At least gets the idea of shape and rails and slanted backstop across. I could make a good drawing from this:-)

I sometimes find myself in Tulsa with the Grandson’s wrestling. How far East? And whether a fella needed a cart for the line would be relative:-)

Somebody made a nice project out of this one when plywood was better.

I’m about 20 mins east. I know a guy that does cowboy action shooting. I’ll forward him pictures of your cart.

Do you still have to have an air compressor?

Yes. My simple explanation and understanding is that air pressure is what pushes the molten metal away creating the cut. Similar to oxygen acetylene torch but way faster and less heat. I can cut a piece of 12ga sheet and instantly grab the cut edge with my bare hand. Also way less warpage in the sheet due to less heat being dispersed in the area.

Was shooting down at my home range the other day and noticed a nice spot for a 400yd maybe a hair mor target. I’m relying on google earth for that distance. Will shoot it with a range finder soon. Then I noticed a nice ovalish piece of steel laying outside the shop. Its 24-25” diameter depending on where you measure and it’s a scosh over 1” thick.

The plan soon formulated! I knew I had some baler belting laying around and an old a-frame. I shortened the legs on the a-frame. So my new target was born. I will most likely use a longer horizontal pipe than seen in the picture below. Not much craftsmanship in this project just scrounging stuff up and about an hour of work. That includes the paint that I don’t do but did do. Lol
