...I'm jealous. Used to work with leather when I was a kid, but gave up all the tools. An uncle of mine that lived in Colorado had a shoe/boot repair business next to his house, and he influenced me quite a bit.

It's not the best work I've ever done, but I made this rocking elephant for my niece's 1 year old son and delivered it today. If I had a chance to do it over, I think I'd make it out of hardwood rather than plywood, but she was happy and I'm fairly certain it'll survive long enough for the little bugger to outgrow it. Toy cars for the grandkids made from Oklahoma grown walnut and pecan. Put a food safe finish on them cause you know a 1 year old is going to taste them.

This is a great idea... and something the kiddos will use and enjoy. I might try to copy your design but make it in a horse as the two little girls I have in mind seem to like horses.
