Some decent advice in this thread, but the fact remains the springs are shot. Re-arching is a band-aid and may not last long at all. The steel is stressed and fatiguing. Spacers are a temp solution too and will not increase the load carrying capacity of the springs. That is determined by the spring itself and can not be increased without additional leaves. Worst case scenario leaves you over confident in their ability just before a spring snaps while carrying a heavy load down the interstate. There's a bus load of nuns somewhere waiting on that accident. I hate throwing good money away too, but two areas on a vehicle you absolutely do not skimp on is steering and suspension. Just pay the shipping and do it right. Recoup some of your money by selling the old leaves to knife makers.
