I actually had some til about 1990. They were my mom and dads old tapes and player. I loved how they took great care when applying the labels so there were no wrinkles. Always gotta have the old match book too.

My '70 GTO had an 8-Track player as well as one of those spiffy flip-dial am/fm radio faces. (And a 428 Pontiac big-block @8MPG).
My 55 Ford Custom had a 4 track to start out, and finally bought an Aurther Fulmer 8 track.
I still have the dammed thing. LOL! We have won a couple of trivia item hunts because we are the only people dumb enough to not throw them out.

I had one in my '70 Dodge Charger R/T. Strapped it to the center console with a bungee cord, if I remember right. It would move back a bit if I loaded the converter against the brake before dropping the hammer, but it kept playing, even after it spent the night at the bottom of a lake once (but that's another story).
I'm glad someone else remembers the 4 track. I had a 1970 AMX with a factory 8 track with Bass 48 speakers. The stereo and the car were both bada$$. I bought a 1979 Chrysler 300 new and it had a factory 8 track I still have a bunch of tapes, oh yeah, I still have the 300. It has less than 70000 original mIles on it.

Im slow to change, I had an 8 track long after cassette players came out. Someone broke into my car, but left my 8 track player and tapes. I remember feeling insulted.
I also still have my pioneer 8 track recorder that I bought at the PX in Saigon.
Not only listen but record the favorites. I just knew at that time cassettes would not make it.
