I don't want to see putin win anything, but I can see your point.
Billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars have gone to graft and corruption in that country never reaching the front-line troops, but to his credit, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has fired dozens of corrupt military and government officials to at least make an attempt to show the most corrupt country on earth is making some attempt to appear legit when getting foreign aid from the US and other countries.
While feathering his own nest. Not that he's an exception to the rules there. Human nature is human nature.

There is a long complex history with this war , and quite simple put the Ukrainians aren't anymore the good guys here than the Russians are the bad guys . Its also disingenuous to continue making the claim Putin wants to reconstitute the Soviet Union , that ship sailed when the USSR broke apart . It was no longer tenable to do, this war has happened because we didn't honor our agreements about trying to influence former Soviet republics and have been encroaching into Russia's back door .

Its actually no different than what we did with Central and South America oh and Cuba and Grenada .

I am not fan of Russians but I am also not a fan of Ukraine they've been a money laundering machine for corrupt politicians in this country and we don't need involved in Eastern Europe to be fair our best chance at a third world war isn't in the Middle East its Eastern Europe if we keep trying to encroach closer to the Russian Border and let's be clear . Everyone will end up losing in the long run because the Russians will very possibly feel compelled to use a nuke at some point .

Zelensky (forgive my spelling) is the center of the corruption. Painting him as some sort of hero would seem pretty ignorant at this point. I won't go into details for fear that all of my words will fall upon deaf ears.

Here is another analysis of Russia's military. I don't know about the source of the video, but they do expound on some of General Petraeus' comments.

Here's info on the video source...https://mediarena.com/3443/review/youtube-channels-reviews/the-military-show-review

As for Gen. Petraeus, given his record is he a trustworthy source?

Russia is having problems according to most military sources. They are having to pull old equipment out of storage because of combat loses and not being able to build much new because of the embargos. Many of their ships are laid up or in refit (including their one carrier) Also having problems paying their troops.

Sure seems to be contradictions about Russia's abilities and situation, like when we were told their economy was failing, have to wonder if much of the "downgrading" is to convince us it would be easy to go to war against Russia.
https://www.defensenews.com/global/...sia-surprised-the-west-and-rebuilt-its-force/

As for the question of "boots on the ground", given the fact that we're paying not only defense but also gov. salaries, pensions, and who knows what else while Ukrainians have to be dragged out of party/entertainment venues to defend their own country I say no to that.

I'm guessing we don't want to talk about to what it would really mean for us to go to a "full out war" the Army War College says there will have to be a draft because of the casualty rates...

If we do bring back the draft there will very likely be some big social fallout, first there will be the gender bender issue...

Then other "social issues" like can addicts and the mentally ill be drafted?
Then there's the issue of women being drafted which has been fought over for sometime, in 2021 the Supreme Ct. refused to even hear a new challenge(but kept from public view?) maybe because it's the issue where equality and the equal protection clause don't count but clinging to gender stereotypes does?...

The mujahideen followed the writings of Ho Chi Min.

“You can kill ten of my men for every one I kill of yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and I will win.” —Viet Minh leader Ho Chi Minh in a warning to French colonialists in 1946.

Everything depends on the Americans. If they want to make war for 20 years then we shall make war for 20 years. If they want to make peace, we shall make peace and invite them to tea afterwards.

Ho Chi Minh

You will kill ten of us, we will kill one of you, but in the end, you will tire of it first.

Ho Chi Minh during the Vietnam War.
And if the US had listened to the Vietnamese, if the British had listened to the Vietnamese - way back before WW2, again at the end of WW2 -we could have avoided that conflict entirely.

It is absolutely criminal the way that that developed.

Look into it for yourself, and understand that it is likely being repeated in other venues at this moment.

By the same token, I've been hearing that the Russians have pretty much lost all their experienced warriors and are down to conscripts and now North Korean soldiers. And, I'd bet dollars to donuts that neither of those last two sources are really enthused about where they are and what is happening to them.
From western media it is around 10k North Korean soldiers and from the same source Russia is recruiting 30k troops per MONTH. Those are people voluntarily signing up. The Russians seem to be following a low level of force commitment and a grind them down strategy. That is the Russian philosophy of war. The Russians are keeping much of their military in reserve for the possibility of having to take on all of nato. Ukraine never had a chance.
