Sideplate screw went away before trigger guard screw.
Yeah early -mid 80s, except J frames. I think they've always been on the left side until the newer ones. Now they're on both sides.

Nope. My Pre19s are all 4 screws.
Serial will be on the bottom of the grip frame not inside the yoke or frame
S serial prefix model 27, .357 magnum. I can't remember when they went away from the S prefix. I think in the 60s??
yeah, definitely not a 686, that would be stainless
The 27 is a good revolver, trigger can "clean up" very well.
