Since "low info voters" are a majority of the electorate...she stands no chance whatsoever. Neither does Ron Paul.

The elecorate wants to vote themselves generous gifts from the treasury. Whoever promises that will rule.

As pointed out earlier, when someone runs as a real conservative, they usually win, especially if they play hardball with whomever the liberals is and the media. I do agree about Ron Paul but only because he is a nutcase (son seems better) and Libertarians just can not pull the needed votes to make up for the Republicans that would stay home.

I know the Libertarians like to think a lot of people would love to vote for them if given the chance but frankly the results do not agree. Not a single Libertarian Governor, member of the House, member of the Senate, or as far as I know, member of any state house.

I agree 100%. The majority of folks here, including voters, would rather have socialism under an R or a D, than have the self-reliant, mind-your-own business government the Founders intended. If it's not welfare mamas being bussed to vote for a D, it's a Bible-thumping Zionist ready to send someone else to war for an R. Both sides have wants, both sides want someone else to pay, either in blood or dollars. Crazy old Ron Paul supporters want to abstain from that little bit of heaven.

Here, but occasionally There.

The closest that could be considered in that vein would be the election of Jesse Ventura as governor in Minnesota back in the '80's.

I'm not so sure that he would be classified as a libertarian because he was elected on the ticket for the Reform Party. So, how close would the Reform and Libertarian parties be to the same philosophy? If they are close, libertarians should be out there really trashing Ventura to avoid that stigma.

Most want someone sane in the White House, Ron Paul is not.

Nationwide, there are 142 Libertarians holding elected offices: 39 partisan offices, and 103 nonpartisan offices.
Mostly local boards and city offices.

And that is where the smart people start building a base. Last I heard the Libertarians have less then half a million members which makes them the 3rd largest party but not ready for prime time. If they EVER want to get anywhere they need to get past Ron Paul and his crap and start fielding real candidates at the state level. Once they get some people in power in the states they can smooth the way for some national offices.

Look, I don't care if Sarah Palin is smart or dumb. I just wanna see her nude sunbathing out by the pool. Yes, I would vote for her based on her Pro 2nd Ammendment stance alone.

Fine with me if she takes 77 Oklahoma counties, but loses everywhere else. I just want to see her in her sandals by the pool - and nothing else! I'll vote for her!

I can visualize in my mind's eye Palin out by the pool, rubbing on coconut based suntan oil as she listens to the voter precincts reporting on the radio. The suntan - unmarred by bikini strap lines...
