cool. thank you guys. now, can i borrow the money for this adventure? lol jk
im still not clear on something. let say i came across a sbr lower. i know i would have to apply on form 4 and wait. what would i have to do to buy an upper? would i have to wait until the lower paperwork goes through, or would i send it in asap? and from looking at the paperwork, i dont guess you can send in your info, then find a gun?
so i can go out and buy a 10.5" upper and its all legal, unless i have another ar-15 in my possession?

thats cool. didnt think about that either. at first, i assumed that a pistol just meant no butt stock. lol, im glad i looked it up. theres a few hoops you gotta jump through with this one too. i was reading the cans and cannots on quaterbore.com. here is what was posted:
A Semi-Auto pistol with an ability to accept a detachable magazine can not have two (2) or more of the following features:
1. an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip.
2. a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip or silencer.
3. a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned.
4. a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded. a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.
from what i understand, the best and easiest way is to have a non threaded barrel and no hand guard. is that correct?
