I took my boy to the range about 8 months ago and he found several .223 steel rifle ammo and offered it to a guy with a AR-15. Instead of the guy being nice, or not thinking, and just putting it aside and saying thanks to a 10 year old boy, he said, I would never shoot steel in my AR. My boy and I both had a puzzled look on our face and wondered what the deal was with steel ammo. Anyways, since then, I have gotten a AK-47, and steel is the only thing we shoot out of it and love it and I've always wondered why that guy said that. I just figured his AR was a wussy rifle compared to my AK, LOL.

What???? You mean to say some guy didn't want to re-run some steel ammo through his AR that had been on the ground??? oh my word!!! What a big loss!

Hahahaha, it wasn't on the ground, it was still in the box that it came in; don't know if the guy that bought them over-looked them or what. Besides that, when a little boy thinks he is doing someone a favor, you could play along; just don't shoot the ****.

Some ranges dont allow steel and some ask you pick them up if you do. But of course many steel shooter are the type that ignore these wishes...

Are you implying that steel shooters are a-holes, lol. We don't have that rule, but we have a good club and I would like to think that if it wasn't allowed, we wouldn't do it.
