Opening up a new can of worms…..

Semi-auto 12 ga, 3”, field gun??

I’m looking to buy a new shotgun for 1st time since 1980. I have some pumps, and a fancy over-under, but as I’m aging, I thought I’d buy a new auto 12 ga, mainly for duck hunting, bucket list pheasant hunt up north, etc. I don’t need a 3.5” chamber, killed plenty with 3” and I have a 10 ga in the stash.

Since Browning recently stopped making the BPS, thought I’d look at an automatic, what do y’all like? Benelli, REM, Maxus, new A-5, Turkish wonder of the month, ???

Talk to me OSA. (And I may decide to just keep shooting “ole reliable” BPS…..)

If you can afford a Beretta or Benelli, you will not be disappointed. I’d put the Franchi a close second.

However, most of the Turkish guns are takes on Beretta and Benelli and their quality is pretty good at a much lower price point.
Very true. Benelli bought Franchi. The Affinity is a good buy at about half the price of the Benelli

I’ve shot a Benelli M1 Super 90 12 ga for 30 years, and I recently bought a second hand Beretta A300 12 ga to use as a turkey gun.
If I were buying another shotgun today, it would be a Beretta or Benelli. I’ve owned a bunch of Beretta over/unders but never one of their semi autos, and the fit and finish on the A300 is really good.
