This made me LOL...

After Sony canceled the release of the North Korea assassination comedy The Interview, a Texas theater said it would swap the film with Paramount's 2004 film Team America: World Police for one free screening.

"We're just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation," James Wallace, creative manager and programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Dallas/Fort Worth location, tells The Hollywood Reporter.

American flags and other patriotic items will be given out by theater employees, Wallace says.

I'm so upset over this I couldn't even post about it. Pansie arse Hollywood caving to terrorist's threats. Ball-less. No integrity whatsoever. We just lost the cyber war to North Korea. NORTH KOREA!!! The least threatening of all the countries that have threatened us and we cave to them.
We are losing the cyber war to everyone, because instead of only going after government secrets like they did in the past, the cyber criminals are going after corporations and stealing intellectual properties on a massive scale, and credit card numbers. Being the "good guys", we can only try to defend against the persistent threats, and no retaliation is allowed. It's like being in a boxing match where you can only block blows and not throw any; you are going to get hit eventually. Nations have buildings full of hackers, and all they do is try to get information from the United States. China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are the main culprits. What compounds this problem is that CEOs are naive and deceptive. If there is a problem, they first ignore it, and then cover it up, so the extent of the damages are not known to anyone until the company is bankrupt and some rival company in China is competing on the market with the same technology.

Considering the zero credibility of even the idea of NK terrorists doing *anything* stateside, I really think this might be just very elaborate hype. NK did basically nothing over Team America: World Police with its portrayal of KJI, so why are "they" getting their panties twisted now?

Did Sony cave due to the terrorists or the movie owners fear of lawsuits? Since there was a known threat any action against a theater by a lone wolf or the terrorists themselves would possibly result in lawsuits and closure of the theater in memorial to any victims. Even if they released it for free online and some terror action occurred somewhere they would be a target for a lawsuit.

These NK thugs like movies - Hopefully more anti-NK movies will be made and this one will be shown soon. NK is a truly bizarre and evil place that cannot stand the criticism. Sunshine is an excellent disinfectant.

No kidding. I wish someone had the ***** to make some movies depicting historical events from more than just one perspective.

Sony can say what they want, but I am more inclined to believe that the hackers got their hands on something very sensitive that Sony doesn't want released as the reason for not releasing the movie, rather than the threat of violence pitch.

one thing that was pointed out last night on Market Place was that Sony likely received pressure from other movie companies to fold/ Given that Christmas day is one of their biggest events, other companies were likely worried that people would avoid going to the theatre to see their movies because of the threats made towards Sony's movie.

Basically, a poor Xmas day turnout would hurt the larger industry as a whole, not just Sony.
