Next legislative session starts in February, I don't have an exact date. The only carry over bill I am aware of is the carrying on busses bill. I'm sure there will be other things that will be attempted again though.

Usually start seeing posts about those bills in late January or early February.

Campus carry is sort of a carry-over. I don't recall if there was a bill, but there are a few reps who are pushing it for the upcoming session.

If you have a chance, hit one of the OK2A meetings (http://www.ok2a.org/group_meetings) and Tim can give you a rundown of what they've got coming down the pike.

I can't speak for him, but I suspect they will try to run Campus Carry through again, and I'd sure like to see the "keep criminals honest" bill get another shot.

"Keep criminals honest" bill?

"Keep criminals honest" bill?

It's brilliant. . .Kansas did it last year. It, in a nutshell, says "look, if you are gonna prohibit law abiding citizens from legally carrying a firearm into public places, you must have some mechanism (metal detector) to keep criminals from illegally carrying firearms there."

Which would mean that you could carry into City Hall unless there was a metal detector in place.

Constitutional carry will come up I hope. If not, at least something to reduce fees for the SDA permit. This is an issue for poor folks on fixed incomes. $225 is a lot of money to the less fortunate and that should not be the reason they can not legally defend themselves. $20 will get you a DL in OK, why can't that buy your SDA card also?

I like that.

So anyone else think that February seems like it's quite a long ways off? Or is it simply because it's an election year?

The legislature is in session from February through May each year. Not sure if you are saying you think they should be in session longer, or if it's going to be awhile before February gets here.
