Take into account multi-year contracts and perks and a lot of them are making millions, while in many cases short changing the people that actually work for the union. (secretaries, janitors, etc)

I definitely agree with you on those instances there, they are completely out of touch with the people they are supposed to be representing. I have never stated unions do not share the blame in things like what happened to Hostess, just that they should not get ALL the blame.

Please quote your source for this fact...

You should not need a quote to know that national union leaders are making way more than the average person they represent. As I stated in an earlier post I really do think that at a local level unions are looking out for their employees. At a national level most of the big unions could care less about a couple hundred employees in Oklahoma. This was proven by the fact that the union would rather let all its employees be unemployed rather than take less money. Did the national union leader lose his job? Or is he still employed making way more than you or I? Is the national union leader taking a pay cut since he contributed to people losing their jobs and benefits? At one time unions were a great thing. The now have run their course. If unions were to organize at say a state level they might do some good but large national unions

The first couple of links from Google after searching union leader salaries:

http://washingtonexaminer.com/not-e...leaders-salaries/article/2505719#.UKelJoY2I3g

http://www.unionfacts.com/employees/AFL-CIO

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/1...-despite-budget-cuts-across-education-sector/

and here is one from a pro union website that shows they make a pretty good chunk of change:

I will say after looking at the stories they do make a bit less than I thought, however they make way more than the average employee they represent.

From what I am hearing, they held a vote and the members rejected the contract not the union big wigs, and yes I need sources to verify what is said, people want me to source my info, I also want to see where they get there info. It's easy people just have to know what they are talking about, not what someone thinks they know.

Who is John Galt?

Hit the nail on the head. This is where we are going, and its gaining speed.

Union Organizations seem to have quite a bit of money, anyone heard of any of them purchasing a closing company and letting their loyal Union employees run it? They always think they can do a better job than their current management. I wonder why they do not try. I would suspect Hostess, Wonder Bread, and the Twinkie line would be pretty cheap to purchase right now. They could have it up and running Tuesday morning.

That would be something to see. Of course we all know why they do not do this. They do not want to actually assume the responsibility - what if they failed? Its too great a risk. Better to have someone else to blame.

As a whole, our country to have people who were devoted fixing PROBLEMS now people are focused on fixing the BLAME on someone else.

While i don't disagree, i doubt this will spark a producer revolution like the loss of rail or steel did in the book. While twinkies are important,i doubt they are necessary in the same way as other products that would really serve as a wakeup call.

can you imagine a twinkie revolution?
