Suggestions Wanted For Single Shot Collectible Rifle

A relative of mine just started his collection with a Springfield .45-70 and wants to add to his collection with similarly historical rifles. Neither of us are knowledgeable in the field and would appreciate a little education. Also, are there any shops in eastern Oklahoma that deal in such rifles? Thanks in advance.

Are you wanting cartridge case firing rifles only, or percussion as well.

I think he's looking for .45-70 caliber but not replicas. The budget is about $2,000.

Non replica in that price range might be tough to find other than the trapdoors, but not impossible. You might look for a Remington rolling block in .43 Egyptian. Seems like those things were everywhere 15-20 years ago and were in the $400 range. I've not seen one in a long time though.

You'll run into a lot of .40-65 and .38-55 cartridges too, still easy to find components for.
