Why? They aren't elected and therefore we have zero leverage on them. The only way to force a change in the ATF is to tell those who are elected that the ATF needs to be reeled in.

Yep; the ATF couldn't care less what we want or what we say. They can sure create laws (for the most part) without any authority to do so, though.

It's like petitioning the king.

Doesn’t a dealer already have to fill out a 3310 form and fax or mail it to the ATF on a multiple handgun sale? I don't see a need for that much less to expand it to long guns. I wonder how much we could save if we stopped doing arbitrary stuff like that in all areas?
