I cannot believe i just read 7 pages of crap.

25,000 sigs is what % of total population of Texas?
All that military equipment would go away.
The boys at the Alamo all got dead.
Last time a state left the Union what happened?
How big is the Texas Navy?
Texans cant secure their own border now.
The vaunted Texas Rangers cant stop drug cartels now.
Hows the economy gonna work without US currency?

Whatever, this thread is nothing but play, play fantasy and wishfull thinkin.

Texas could easily handle themselves economically. The rest of the US would suffer with their leaving since they are a donor state.

Can you share the source of this information. And does it take into account the assistance due to two hurricane and a BP oil spill? The south/gulf states have experience more then their fair share of disasters.

There's lots of countries that use the American dollar, go to Mexico or Canada they will gladly take it. I think you underestimate Texans! But yes it's all symbolic.

Texas won't secede, neither will any other state, but 25,000 signatures forces the .gov to respond. States have to stand up for the rights of their people, this is one way to make a bold statement.

As far as Texas not being able to secure their borders? Yeah, with the fed's interference, no one can secure the borders.
Drug cartels would not stand a chance, without Federal laws to stop the, the cartels would be hunted down, dragged into the middle of these street and made examples of. Make no bones about it, texans won't go down easy.

It is a start, would you be more supportive if it passed a state wide vote first?
All that military equipment would go away.
And contractors wouldn't see new equipment to Texas just as they do the rest of the world? This is not a problem.
The boys at the Alamo all got dead.
Actually, there were two who survived, not to mention the "American" soldiers didn't get involved with the Alamo. It wasn't until the Mexican - American war in 1848 that "U.S. Troops" fought for Texas.

How big is the Texas Navy?
With the size of the Texas cost line, I'm sure this could be addressed..
Texans cant secure their own border now.
Only at the hands of the Federal Government who won't allow them to secure their border. Texas has asked on repeated attempts to take over boarder control, along with Arizona to provide a more secure option for their residents. It's the Federal Government who limits their ability.

The vaunted Texas Rangers cant stop drug cartels now.
We talk about the future, if Texas were to take responsibility, I'm sure you would see them put forward a valid, skilled and trained army. I return to the Swiss, they seem to take care of themselves what makes you doubt Texas so much?
Hows the economy gonna work without US currency?
Funny every other county on the planet accepts the US dollar and provides trade? Do you really think Texas would have a lower debt rating then the US? Again, Texas has the 5th largest economy in the world not to mention much lower debt.

Maybe this thread is wishful thinking, I believe we are on the cusp of some sort of revolution. There are basic principles that can't be over looked in the current environment. If you call any consumer credit counseling service they will share some basic points to help, 1) Stop spending, 2) Cut up the CC, 3) Sell everything you can to pay off your bills, 4) work on a payment plan

Now which of those steps do you see the USA currently taking? NONE! There in lies the problem, you can't keep driving the county off a cliff without the people standing up. The constitution and bill of rights want us to protect lady liberty, the problem, but to many people are scared of the government.

Again, I'm sure this will go no where for Texas or the number of other states who have petitions in place, but I stand by the fact the real story here is the number of people who have seen through the smoke and realize we are on the wrong road.
