I'm curious how many would actually go after their fellow countrymen? Even if they did have success in this endeavor, I do not think a lot of help would come to the government on this front.

And that is where the UN comes in. I don't believe any American patriot would turn on another American, do you realize how friendly we are getting to the UN, they will be the army that kills Americans. Our troops will be locked up as traitors and the population will be forced to defend ourselves and our country.

I can't help but LOL. Especially when I know the same people who are gung-ho about this secede fantasy are the same ones who would have complicitly sat by and watch Romney do the same thing Obama has, if Romney had been elected instead.

How would Romney be any different than Obama again?

what are the words i am looking for, sour grapes, spilt milk. get over it if you are upset that a majority of the voters in the USA elected a candidate not of your choosing. if this is your reason for this, promote a candidate that will appeal to the majority of USA voters, just how little are you if this is your way of acting, "you won't play by the rules i made up so i am taking my ball and go home".

I am in it for the long hall, i ain't no quitter, i want to see a better USA, and quitting isn't the way to get there.

If it will make you happy, it sure would me, I wish i could park the bus on the edge of and pointing at the fiscal cliff, weld the drive gear in first, throw the keys to the Tea party and let them drive it over the cliff. perhaps then we would make some progress on this deficit issue. then everyone could ***** and moan that they didn't get there way, but at least we are getting something done!

In all seriousness, I personally hate to see the country divided as it is. We used to look past these things and find common ground. But it's not only politics that divide us. What do we have in common with people in the northeast or in Southern California? We think differently, we work differently, we have different values, different outlooks on what family consists of, on education, etc. Maybe we've crossed a threshold somewhere in the past 50 years that the gap in our differences has become too wide. If we find that we're a different people altogether, then maybe it's time we formed a different nation.

You're not getting it. This isn't about seceding. It's about complete and total dissatisfaction with the federal government. The same petitions have been around since the Bush years. They're gaining steam because the dismal approval ratings of ALL federal politicians seem to leave them unfazed. We The People want the BS to stop and they refuse to listen. So what DO you do to get their attention? This is just one of many ways. The win wouldn't be to secede or even to get approval to secede. The win is in getting the .gov on record as having to formally address the matter at all. It's a tangible clue for them to stop messing around and start walking the straight & narrow. :(

It's great to live in a country where lemmings who are leeching government hand-outs have just as much a voice as you do... I mean, how would you expect them to vote?

It's government bribery, honestly.

With that said, I didn't vote. I had no representation.

The point I'm trying to make is that if Romney had won, none of this talk about seceding would even be taking place because people would push their dissatisfaction with the federal gov to the way side because a guy with an R next to his name won. People would be complicit with Romney even though nothing would change.

You patriots do not understand that 'divided we fall' still applies as importantly to our country today as it did to yesteryear. In fact, you even want to lead the charge.

Both sides lost the war between the states.
